Film School Step 1 – the idea and the script

You are the maker, you have the idea. For instance: thrown away bananas return as boomerangs!

A fancy idea for a commercial often consists of one information to which another information is linked that allows us to see the first information surprisingly differently, and then abruptly reveals the message of the commercial.

Stories in which someone solves a problem and / or somehow gets into trouble are always grateful. But in advertisement, in particular, everything is possible, sometimes it is only the font or only a picture that makes it happen.

Basically, there is only one commandment: You shall not bore!

Do something that your audience won’t easily forget!

In this case that means: our light-headed handling with ‚cheap’ groceries, our ‘dispensable’ life style lead in other countries of the world to dependencies, exploitation, tensions and last but not to returning problems, because the world is going to defend itself. The popular banana is a metaphor for it and is similar to a boomerang. So much for the idea.

And your idea?

Write it down!

Regardless if written (as an exposé or script) ) or drawn (as a storyboard) - the draft has to reflect your idea so clearly that potential partner, sponsors and supporters exactly know what you plan. But don’t write too much in detail, the easier and quicker to understand the better.

The banana spot could look on the paper as follows: Link to the Bananaspot-Exposé

Have you found your idea? Then you can move on:
